Wound care a la Eden

In Zi's six weeks of walking experience, she has had her fair share of run-ins with the floors, doors, and mores. (Yes, I know it's more, I just couldn't help myself.) Unless it's potentially serious, the general rule around here is we pretend not to notice when she falls. Cuts down on the drama BIG TIME. Anyway, I'll spare the details but Zi ended up with a lil' boo boo on her noggin this afternoon at Nanny's house. No worries, it was Nurse Eden to the rescue. One minute Zi is quietly fussing while clamoring in the Tupperware cabinet and the next minute she's proudly displaying this little number:

Courtesy of Eden of course. After a thorough evaluation of said accessory, I have assigned the following scores to Eden's credentials with 5 being the highest:

Compassion for those in pain: 5

Ability to remain calm in stressful situation: 4

Precise ability to place bandage: 3 (Discounted points for failing to remove some of Zi's hair from her forehead before applying band aid. Points gained for correctly identifying the general location of the wound.)

Patient follow up: 0 (When I asked exactly who she thought should be responsible for removing the band aid, Eden was quick to exclaim "NOT ME!!" )

Overall score: 12 out of 20

Summary: Not only has Zion received less quality care at a higher cost at a real medical facility, she has also never had a nurse as cute or sweet to her as Eden. Big Sister might, just might, have a future in this field!

  1. Love the post Rachael. Which, every post is great. I love the picture and laughed while reading the scores given to Eden! You know, maybe she will actually be a doctor, because you know, normally nurses do the dirty work, and as you see, she didn't want to do the dirty work of pulling off that band aid!! LOL!
